How to machine precision parts

The machining methods for precision parts  mainly include fine turning, fine boring, fine milling, fine grinding and lapping processes. These methods are capable of achieving micron-level machining accuracy and are applicable to the micron-level machining process of various precision mould parts. Specifically, precision machining methods include the following key points.

Milling and micro-milling : Used for processing precision electrodes, such as the discharge end of EDM, it is applicable to the processing of complex shapes and precision fine feature parts on mould parts, such as micro holes and slots, narrow slits and so on. Through milling and micro-milling, high-precision machining of small columns can be achieved, with a distance deviation of ±3μm between each small column and a dimensional consistency of 5μm.

Grinding: In the absence of a co-ordinate grinder, the machining of micron-sized holes can also be achieved by selecting a suitable grinding solution. This method can easily ensure the dimensional consistency of round holes of the same specification at 2μm.

Machining of precision deep hole parts: The machining of deep hole parts is completed by using a horizontal lathe and specific machining devices, such as carbide reamer, anti-splash shield against cutting fluid, and draw reaming device. This method makes use of high-speed reaming processing, the tool bar is subject to tension, not easy to produce bending deformation, the cutting process is smooth, and it is suitable for the processing of small-diameter precision deep-hole parts.

Laser precision machining technology : laser beam can be focused to a very small size, especially suitable for precision machining. According to the size of the processed material and the precision requirements of processing, laser processing technology is divided into different levels, including precision laser processing technology and laser microfabrication technology, and its processing accuracy is generally in the ten-micron level or even sub-micron level.

In summary, precision parts are processed by a variety of methods, including, but not limited to, precision turning, precision boring, precision milling, precision grinding, and grinding. Milling and micro-milling, grinding, and laser precision machining technology. Each of these methods has its own characteristics and is suitable for different types of precision part machining needs.
