Huawei's indirect evaporative cooling technology is the industry leader in China. With four years of proven success, Huawei is forging ahead confidently. Discover why Huawei's cooling solutions are making waves and leading the way.
Taking into account both energy saving and reliability, it continues to lead the Chinese indirect evaporative cooling market
The CCID Consulting Report pointed out that in the past year, the widespread application of AI technology has led to a surge in the computing power and data carried by data centers, and data centers are becoming increasingly "hot". Indirect evaporative cooling solutions, with their more reliable architecture and greener energy consumption, are increasingly being used by data center operators as the preferred air cooling solution for data centers. In 2023, the overall scale of China's indirect evaporative cooling market will reach 2.07 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 19.7%. It is expected that by 2026, the scale of China's market will reach 3.61 billion yuan.
Large models bring large computing power, and large computing power is accompanied by high energy consumption. At present, the heat dissipation method of data centers is still mainly air cooling. On the cold source side, indirect evaporative cooling has the advantages of architectural security, high efficiency and energy saving, fast delivery, and simple operation and maintenance compared to traditional chilled water systems. It is the preferred cooling solution during the transition period from general computing power to intelligent computing power.
Since the first release of FusionCol indirect evaporative cooling in 2019, Huawei has led the distributed high-reliability architecture, and through continuous innovation of architecture and self-developed core components, it has made major breakthroughs in cold-electric integration, continuous cooling, harmonic governance, and AI energy saving, leading large data center cooling systems to a new era of energy saving and reliability. To date, Huawei's indirect evaporative cooling has ranked first in China's market share for four consecutive years.
Excellent market performance is inseparable from strong technical research and development capabilities. Huawei has the industry's largest 400kW indirect evaporative cooling test dedicated enthalpy difference laboratory, which not only conducts conventional performance tests, but also simulates extreme environments such as high temperature, extreme cold, heavy rain, and heavy snow to verify the reliability of indirect evaporative cooling products in harsh environments and ensure that its performance is what you see.
Innovation never stops, creating the preferred cooling solution in the era of intelligent computing
Innovation is in Huawei's gene. Last July, Huawei released a new generation of indirect evaporative cooling EHU to the world. With its four major features: full-chain security, high-efficiency energy saving, integrated simplicity, and AI smart cooling, it continues to lead the efficient and highly reliable cooling of large data centers.
• Full chain security: With a distributed architecture, the subsystems are independent of each other, and the failure of a single device does not affect the overall operation, the fault domain is smaller, and the reliability is higher. Through direct connection to the backup power supply, the main and backup power supplies are switched in 0ms, and refrigeration is 0 interrupted.
• High efficiency and energy saving: With the self-developed AeroTurbo fan and IceCube polymer heat exchange core, the natural cold source is maximized, and only one heat exchange is required. In cold areas, no compressor refrigeration is required most of the time, achieving lower PUE.
• Fusion and simplicity: Through engineering productization and product modularization, one box and one system are achieved, and the delivery cycle is shortened from 6 months to 3 months. Relying on the cold and electricity fusion architecture, there is no need to configure UPS, and installation and operation are more convenient.
• AI intelligent cooling: With the support of iCooling@AI energy efficiency tuning technology, PUE design is what you get, what you build is what you get, and in the indirect evaporative cooling scenario, PUE is effectively reduced by 3%-5%.
In high-density, high-computing power application scenarios, the same data center may have both general computing power and intelligent computing power. The power of a general server cabinet generally does not exceed 15kW, and air-cooled equipment can meet the cooling needs. However, the power of a single cabinet in an intelligent computing center generally exceeds 30kW, and air cooling + liquid cooling technology must be used to dissipate heat. As an air-cooling solution that efficiently utilizes natural cold sources, indirect evaporative cooling can support the future evolution of the air-liquid fusion architecture and meet the needs of smooth business upgrades. It is the preferred cooling solution in the era of intelligent computing.
Actions speak louder than words. In the future, Huawei Data Center Energy and Key Power Supply will continue to deepen its presence in the field of temperature control, create more competitive cooling solutions for high-density, high-computing power scenarios, help customers and partners win in the era of intelligent computing, and keep the digital world running firmly.
